Mimi Fox Exhibit in September

The public is invited to "The Sun Always Rises," an exhibition of new paintings by Mimi Cernyar Fox, MFA, which will be on display from September 1 - 30, 2010. There will be a reception and artist talk on September 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. The exhibition and reception will be in the Benedictine Sisters' Hospitality Center at Queen of Angels Monastery in Mt. Angel. Daily open hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Mimi Cernyar Fox lives with her husband near Raymond, Washington in a farming community which was originally settled by Swiss and Polish farmers. Fox, a former student of the Sisters at Mt. Angel Academy, has drawn inspiration from the farms and gardens in this rural area, and she has been painting in acres of gigantic sunflowers, an experience that reconnected her to the Willamette Valley farms and fields she experienced as a youth.

All the paintings in the exhibition are for sale, and Fox plans to donate 40% of all sales to St. Joseph Shelter, a ministry of hospitality to the homeless sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters. Admission to the exhibition is free.
