Reflection

by Sister Dorothy Jean Beyer, OSB

We begin earnestly our Lenten observance on this First Sunday of Lent. Today's readings focus on the steadfastness of our hearts. How can we remain faithful in our living in Christ Jesus? We ask God, in the opening Collect of Mass, “that we may grow in understanding of the riches hidden in Christ and by worthy conduct pursue their effects.” May our hearts be ever faithful this Lent to the riches and blessings of Christ’s life.

“Let them prefer nothing whatever to Christ, and may he bring us all together to everlasting life.” RB 72:11-12

Gospel Acclamation:

"One does not live on bread alone,

but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God."

Matthew 4:4
